The Omegon Light Pollution Filter is a type of broadband filter. Its effectiveness makes it universally applicable. The broad passband allows star clusters, galaxies, nebulae and comets to be better observed. However, it also filters out annoying artificial light such as street lighting.
Both the UHC and OIII filters are limited in their application to a few objects. The Light Pollution Filter is therefore more useful for generally increasing the contrast of faint objects, without filtering out the spectrum of possible observing targets.
The Omegon Light Pollution Filter is not only useful at light-polluted sites; the contrast is also increased at dark sky sites.
