Astronomical Filters

Astronomical filters are a telescope accessory used to improve the detail of celestial objects for either visual observation or astro-photography. They work by blocking different parts of the light spectrum to boost reception of another part so improving the detail and contrast of the object being observed.

They are sub-divided into colour filters, polarising filters, broadband and narrowband filters. Each has a specific use within Astronomy.
