This telescope opens up for you the world of nebulae and galaxies. You will be able to see those faint objects right from the beginning, even with little observing experience. A high performance scope which provides a sound base for stunning astro-observation beyond the solar system. The 150 mm aperture gathers more than twice the light of a 100 mm aperture, which means that you will see that much more.
A comprehensive and high quality set of accessories comes with the scope and enables you, right from the start, to carry out interesting observation projects.
What you will be able to see:
The Megastar 150/1400 offers you a maximum of aperture in this price range. The scope is ideal for observing emission nebulae, star clusters and galaxies. For this type of observation, you will hardly find more performance in this price range. The Moon and the planets can also be seen and reveal interesting details.
With it's longer focal length, the Megastar is better suited to deep space observations. Even a smaller Newtonian with no integrated correcting lens will produce sharper images of the Moon and the planets. But there will be hardly any other scope in this price range showing nebulae and galaxies with so much brightness.
So, if you are mainly interested in objects beyond the solar system, the Megastar is the right choice for you.
The mount:
The mount not only provides the good stability required for visual observation with this Newtonian; it even allows for astrophotography, since it can be retrofitted with an optional tracking motor. This EQ mount also comes with flexible slow motion controls for precise object location and adjustment.
The base for the scope is a sturdy height-adjustable aluminium tripod which also provides compensation ability on rough ground. The mount can be detached from the tripod by undoing a single screw, a system which makes for easy and space-saving transportation.
